Pourtant, Gianni Infantino avait récemment assuré que l’Iran participerait bien à la compétition. Une procédure encore en cours Selon Mehdi Taj, les joueurs iraniens doivent notamment se rendre à Ankara afin d’y effectuer les prises d’empreintes digitales nécessaires dans le cadre de la procédure de visa. Kaizer Chiefs have announced the appointment of Bheki Shongwe as the club’s new Group Chief Executive Officer, effective May 2026.

In a statement released by the club on Thursday, Chiefs stated that Shongwe will oversee the day-to-day running of the club, reporting directly to the chairman Dr Kaizer Motaung and the board.

“Mr Shongwe is no stranger to the Kaizer Chiefs family. He has been serving as a non-executive director on the current Board of Directors while successfully managing his own businesses,” read the club statement.

“Prior to this, he held the position of Managing Director of the Club between 2009 and 2012. His extensive knowledge of the organisation and its operations makes him well-suited to lead us into the future.

“In his new role, Mr Shongwe will oversee the day-to-day running of the Club, reporting directly to the Chairman and the Board, while working closely with the heads of departments.

“Importantly, he will also be assisting Chairman Dr Kaizer Motaung with the overall running of the organisation, ensuring that the Club continues to thrive both on and off the field.

“We welcome Mr Shongwe back to the Amakhosi fold and wish him every success in his new role and look forward to his leadership as we continue to build on our proud legacy of 56 years.”

Chiefs, who have collected 51 points in 28 games so far this season, have booked a spot in next season’s CAF Confederation Cup with two games to spare.

They next face AmaZulu away at Durban’s Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday at 3pm.

Plusieurs experts estiment que disputer une compétition d’une telle intensité en plein été nord-américain pourrait représenter un véritable risque, aussi bien pour les joueurs que pour les supporters. Le patron de l’ONU Climat, Simon Stiell, a d’ailleurs tiré la sonnette d’alarme : « Depuis la dernière fois que les États-Unis ont accueilli la Coupe du monde en 1994, le risque de canicule a doublé […] ce qui mettra en danger les joueurs et les supporters. » Des risques sérieux Le principal problème ne concerne pas seulement la température affichée, mais aussi l’humidité. Même autour de 28 degrés, les conditions peuvent devenir extrêmement difficiles physiquement. Les chercheurs du collectif World Weather Attribution (WWA) se sont appuyés sur l’indice WBGT, aussi appelé “thermomètre-globe mouillé”, utilisé pour mesurer le stress thermique réel sur le corps humain. Des matchs potentiellement dangereux Ainsi, selon une étude menée sur les 104 matchs prévus durant la compétition, plusieurs rencontres pourraient se jouer dans des conditions jugées dangereuses, à 28 degrés ou plus. La climatologue Friederike Otto, professeure à l’Imperial College de Londres et cofondatrice du WWA, s’est elle aussi montrée très inquiète : « Notre recherche montre que le changement climatique a un effet réel et mesurable sur la viabilité de l’organisation des Coupes du monde pendant l’été dans l’hémisphère nord. » Elle rappelle également que certains seuils de chaleur sont considérés comme dangereux par le syndicat des joueurs, au point que des reports ou annulations de matchs seraient à privilégier. Une inquiétude qui dépasse le terrain Même avec des stades climatisés, la question reste entière pour les milliers de supporters attendus autour des enceintes, dans les fan-zones ou dans les rues. Au-delà du simple aspect sportif, cette Coupe du monde soulève donc de vraies interrogations sanitaires et environnementales, au point que le choix des pays hôtes, notamment les États-Unis, est aujourd’hui de plus en plus remis en question.

The Msimbazi Reds continued to dominate possession and press forward, but Mashujaa responded strongly, especially in midfield where Samuel Onditi and Baraka Mtuwi worked tirelessly to disrupt Simba’s rhythm.

Despite Simba’s control, the hosts created several dangerous counterattacks through striker Ismail Mgunda, who tested goalkeeper Djibril Kassali late in the first half. However, the shot-stopper remained composed to preserve his side’s lead.

Mashujaa defender Mgandila Hassan was booked a yellow card just a minute before halftime after committing a foul as the home side struggled to contain Simba’s attacking movement. The first half ended with Simba holding a narrow 1-0 lead.

At the start of the second half, Mashujaa coach Julio Kiwelu attempted to change the momentum by making several substitutions, introducing Yusuph Lwenge, Mapinduzi Balama and Crispin Ngushi.

Simba coach Steve Barker also adjusted his squad, bringing on Annicet Oura in place of Inno Liyombo in the 61st minute.

The visitors eventually doubled their advantage in the 69th minute through the outstanding Chama, who once again proved decisive for Simba. After receiving a well-weighted pass from Ellie Mpanzu, Chama controlled the ball brilliantly before unleashing a powerful left-footed strike past the helpless goalkeeper to make it 2-0.

Barker later introduced fresh legs, including Alassane Kante, Maurice Abraham and Selemani Mwalimu, as the title contenders looked to finish the match strongly.

Although Mashujaa continued to push forward, the two-goal deficit appeared to drain their confidence and energy. Deep into stoppage time, Selemani Mwalimu sealed the emphatic victory after finishing calmly from a Neo Maema assist to make it 3-0.

Chama was deservedly named Man of the Match after another influential display, continuing his impressive run of form after starring against JKT Tanzania and Yanga in recent matches. The midfielder has now scored eight league goals this season, moving within two goals of current top scorer Feisal Salum of Azam FC.

Following the victory, Simba remain second in the standings with 52 points from 23 matches, while Yanga stay top with 54 points from the same number of games, setting up an intense finish to the title race.
