Suryakumar Yadav Refutes Claims of Frustration After Captaincy Exit

World Cup-winning skipper Suryakumar Yadav has rubbished rumours claiming he is unhappy after being relieved of the captaincy, saying statements attributed to him are false.

After winning the World Cup, the selectors decided to move on from Suryakumar, largely due to the 35-year-old’s poor run of form. Recently, fake statements claiming that Suryakumar had expressed his frustration were circulated online. However, the Mumbai batter dismissed those claims, saying they were false. He also urged everyone not to take unverified information seriously.

“I’m very happy for the team and wish them nothing but the very best, always,” Suryakumar said in a social media post. “I know the boys are giving it their all, and they will always have my full support. I’ve also noticed a statement being circulated online that has been falsely attributed to me. I want to make it clear that I have not made or authorised any such statement. Please don’t believe or share unverified information. My support for Indian cricket, my teammates and the game will always speak louder than words falsely attributed to me.”

Suryakumar was not only stripped of the captaincy but was also left out of the squads for the UK tour. He was not included in the 30-man probable squad for this year’s Asian Games, indicating that the selectors have moved on from the only Indian captain to have remained unbeaten in every T20I series and multi-nation tournament he led.
