Will Vaibhav Sooryavanshi feature in the Duleep Trophy final to be played in Chennai from Sunday? What about Ishan Kishan and Tilak Varma?

The Duleep Trophy final will be played between East Zone and South Zone. Ishan is the East Zone captain, while Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is his deputy. Tilak is the South Zone skipper and played a stellar role in his team’s success over North Zone in the semi-final.

Then again, they are in the Indian squad for the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan, starting on September 13 in Delhi. After that, they will go to the Asian Games in Aichi Prefecture, Japan, where India’s opening game is on September 28.

The BCCI’s stock-taking meeting on Thursday deliberated at length on players’ fitness and injury management. So, what about the trio and their workload management? It is learnt that Gautam Gambhir, the head coach, will take a call on the three players’ participation in the Duleep Trophy.

With the home series against the West Indies (first ODI is on September 27), coinciding with the Asian Games, VVS Laxman will be the coach in Japan.
