Bears-Panthers Sets NFL Week 1 Record

Published September 13, 2026 · Updated September 13, 2026 · NBC Sports

The Chicago Bears' 59-37 road victory over the Carolina Panthers set a new NFL record for the highest-scoring Week 1 game in league history.

The Bears and Panthers combined for 96 points, surpassing the previous Week 1 record of 88 points set by the Buccaneers and Saints in 2018. This marked the first time any NFL game ended with a 59-37 score.

While impressive, the Bears' 59 points was not their highest-scoring game in franchise history. They previously scored 61 points in regular season games during the 1965 and 1980 seasons, and 73 points in the 1940 NFL championship game. truewildgame.online
