Brewers’ Pat Murphy Shows Off Tortoise After ‘Pocket Pancake’ Scandal

During a nationally televised game, Brewers manager Pat Murphy was caught eating a pancake from his hoodie pocket, a moment that went viral. After being told no pocket pancakes were allowed for a later Apple TV interview, he presented a Sulcata tortoise named Bobby Jr. to reporter Tricia Whitaker.

In August, a mid‑game interview saw Brewers manager Pat Murphy reach into his hoodie pocket for a pancake, a clip that quickly went viral. The incident sparked a playful “Murph’s Pocket Pancakes” concession line at American Family Field.

When the team was set to play the Royals on Apple TV, Murphy was informed that no pocket pancakes were permitted. He instead handed a Sulcata tortoise, dubbed Bobby Jr., to reporter Tricia Whitaker. The reptile, which can live up to 70 years, was kept at Kauffman Stadium and will not travel with the club.
