Mariners Place Speier on IL, Add Suarez and Simpson

To replace Speier, the Mariners have activated lefty José Suarez, claimed off waivers from the Braves, and selected Josh Simpson from Triple-A Tacoma. Right-hander Cole Wilcox has been optioned to Triple-A to make room for the new additions.

Speier, 31, has struggled this season with a decline in performance metrics, particularly with his slider which he's thrown 35% of the time but with less effectiveness than last year.
