Socceroos Herrington nears Premier League move

Teenage Australian defender Lucas Herrington is set to join Premier League side Hull City in a deal worth approximately £17m ($32.5m), making him the nation's second-most expensive footballer.

The 18-year-old, who became the youngest Australian to start a World Cup game, will move from Colorado Rapids to the newly-promoted Premier League club. The transfer fee of £12.6m plus £4.4m in add-ons falls just short of the Australian record set by Harry Souttar in 2023. syntagm.co.za

Herrington's move would set a new selling record for Colorado Rapids and eclipse Hull City's previous transfer record of just over £10m for Ryan Mason. Given his meteoric rise, the teenager is expected to break Australia's transfer record outright in the near future.
