South Carolina Falls 79-51 to UCLA in Title Game

The Gamecocks were defeated 79‑51 by UCLA in the NCAA women's basketball title game, a 28‑point loss that marks the second straight year of championship disappointment.

The Gamecocks shot just 29% from the field and fell 79‑51 to UCLA, a margin among the largest in championship history. It is the second consecutive year the program has been shut down in the final.

Despite the loss, Dawn Staley’s 15‑year program remains strong. Returning stars Joyce Edwards and Tessa Johnson, along with veteran Chloe Kitts and potential return of Ashlyn Watkins, give the team a solid core for 2027. The Gamecocks also boast a promising recruiting class and a roster of young talent ready to step up.
