Turner Starts for USMNT in Belgium Friendly

Matt Turner returned to the U.S. men’s national team goalkeeping spot for the first time in 12 matches, starting against Belgium in Atlanta.

Turner, who had not started since June 10, 2025, was named in the starting XI after coach Mauricio Pochettino opted to give him a chance. The U.S. lost 5-2, but Turner made several key saves early on, including a parry of a long‑range shot by Zeno Debast.

Despite a solid start, Belgium capitalized on a turnover in the 36th minute and later scored twice, with Amadou Onana and Zeno Debast securing the win. Turner’s performance highlighted the open competition for the U.S. goalkeeper position.
