Karl won’t get fooled again! (Kicker via @iMiaSanMia)
Bayern Munich phenom Lennart Karl already had one inadvertent, controversial statement for 2026 — and the youngster was not going to let it happen again.
When asked by Kicker about what his plans are for the summer, Karl did not take the bait and evaded an obvious attempt to get him to talk about potentially joining Germany for the World Cup:
Where will you be spending the upcoming months of June and July?
Karl: “I know what you mean. But for me, the only thing that matters is giving my all at Bayern – only then can I hope for a call-up. Anyone who doesn’t hope for something like that has no place in football.”
Was there contact with Julian Nagelsmann?
Karl: “Not yet, no. But it was really cool in the U21 team with all the talented players from the Bundesliga.”
You might say, “What’s the big deal?”…but this is growth!
As much as we all think we want our athletes firing off whatever is on the top of their head, it is always much wiser to be measured in interviews and public speaking. Karl resisted the urge to give a statement with his real feelings (Of course, he wants to be on that roster!) and instead just kept it all very vanilla to indicate his focus is on his career with Bayern Munich.
All you can ask from the kid is to learn from his mistakes and he had already shown a willingness to adapt.
Modrić back to Dinamo Zagreb? (ESPN)
Luka Modrić is having quite a season with AC Milan, but could opt to go back to his homeland of Croatia for the final chapter in his career:
AC Milan midfielder Luka Modric could opt to rejoin Dinamo Zagreb after representing Croatia at the World Cup, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport. The 40-year-old started his senior career with the HNL club and club president Zvonimir Boban was his idol. There are still other possible scenarios, though, as Milan have an option to extend Modric’s stay by a year, and they want him to remain with them but will only trigger the clause if he wants them to. There is also a possibility that the midfielder could decide to retire.
Bayern, Milan competing for LFC’s Gomez (The Hard Tackle)
This rumors seems way off, but who knows? This is the Schmankerl after all.
Bayern Munich is reportedly one of the teams keeping an eye on Liverpool center-back Joe Gomez:

According to a report from Caught Offside, Joe Gomez looks set to part ways with Liverpool this summer. Openda out at Juve (Transfer journalist Nicolò Schira)
Loïs Openda’s loan from RB Leipzig to Juventus has not gone as planned. It looks like he will be on the move once again:
Loïs #Openda is not in #Juventus’ Plans for the next season.
If you remember, Bayern Munich was rumored to have taken a run at Openda before the summer transfer window closed.
Spurs, Magpies eyeing Núñez (ESPN)
Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United both could attempt to make a move for Al Hilal striker Darwin Núñez:
Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United are among the clubs interested in signing Al Hilal striker Darwin Núñez if the former Liverpool striker becomes available, as reported by TEAMtalk. The 26-year-old has been left out of the Saudi club’s league and cup squads due to strict foreign-player quotas following the arrival of Karim Benzema. Atlético Madrid and Juventus are also long-term admirers of the Uruguay international and would both be interested in a move if the opportunity arose and the finances were within their reach.
