Daniel Davis takes over as athletic director and head football coach at Mount Enterprise

MOUNT ENTERPRISE, Texas (KETK) — Mount Enterprise ISD named East Texas native Daniel Davis the Wildcats’ new athletic director and head football coach during a special called school board meeting on Monday night.

Davis, who graduated from New Diana in 2001, comes to Mount Enterprise from Weatherford ISD where he coached football and powerlifting.

Davis, who also coached at Godley and Seymour, succeeds Scott Ponder who took the AD/HFC job at Alto back in January.

He said Mount Enterprise’s vision for their athletics program and football team aligns with his philosophy and he can’t wait to get to work at Mount Enterprise.

“Extremely excited. Our family and I are really excited to be here. We’re very excited to get to serve this community and get the football program going in the direction I feel like we need to go and I’m excited to be here. We’re excited to be here,” Davis said. “It’s just the family environment that we get to be a part of. I grew up in a small town, probably had 45 in my high school, in my grade, and it’s just a close-knit community and we’re very excited to be here.”

Davis said Mount Enterprise fans can expect a fast, physical football team that does things the right way.

“We’re gonna be team first. Again, we’re meant to serve others and so that’s what we’re gonna try to do as a team. That’s kind of the vision that we’re gonna build here,” Davis said.
