Struggling Morecambe have signed experienced defender Liam Hogan from National League rivals Rochdale on an 18-month contract.

The 37-year-old, who captained Salford City to promotion into the English Football League in 2018-19, has 465 senior appearances to his name.

He was a regular for Rochdale last season but has enjoyed limited opportunities during the current campaign and has chosen to make the switch.

"In the moment that Morecambe are in, I feel like my attributes - my experience and my time in this league will be good - especially off the back of a really good win at the weekend," Hogan told the club's website.

"Coming from Rochdale, it's a little bit bittersweet in terms of I've left a really good group there and I wish them all the very best."

Morecambe, who beat Eastleigh 4-0 on Saturday, travel to Gateshead on Wednesday.
