Steinbach's 24-16 Lifts Washington Past Rutgers

Hannes Steinbach scored 24 points and grabbed 16 rebounds to lead Washington to a 79-72 victory over Rutgers on Tuesday night.

Steinbach recorded his 17th double-double of the season, tying him for second in Division I. The 6-foot-11 German was 9-of-13 shooting and 6-of-7 from the foul line. Wesley Yates III added 19 points and seven assists for the Huskies, who improved to 14-14 overall and 6-11 in Big Ten play.

Lino Mark led Rutgers with 18 points, while Darren Buchanan Jr. added 17. The Scarlet Knights dropped to 11-17 overall and 4-13 in conference. Washington shot 50% as a team and 37% from beyond the arc, while holding Rutgers to 40% shooting and 21% from three. The victory marked Washington's first-ever win at Rutgers.
