Nine-time All-Star Chris Sale and the Atlanta Braves have agreed to a one-year, $27 million contract extension that includes a $30 million club option for 2028. The 36-year-old was set to hit free agency after this season but will remain in Atlanta.
Sale, who won the 2024 NL Cy Young Award after joining the Braves, made just 20 starts last season due to injury but still posted impressive numbers with a 3.6 fWAR. Since coming to Atlanta in 2024, he has accumulated 10.0 fWAR across 303 1/3 innings pitched.
