Colts Optimistic About Ward's 2026 Future

Despite suffering three concussions in 2025, the Colts are optimistic about cornerback Charvarius Ward's future with the team for the 2026 season.

After expressing uncertainty about his NFL future following multiple concussions, Ward appears to be in a good frame of mind and is looking to play in 2026, according to Colts officials. 'He's in a good frame of mind,' said GM Chris Ballard. 'His frame of mind is really good right now.' Ward had previously stated that another concussion might lead him to retire, citing concerns about his long-term health and family.

However, head coach Shane Steichen added, 'I had conversations with him a couple days ago, and he's in a good headspace, feeling good.' When healthy, Ward was productive in 2025, allowing a 57% completion rate with seven pass breakups in seven games.
