Dodgers' Vesia Returns to Mound After Tragic Loss

Los Angeles Dodgers reliever Alex Vesia returned to the mound on Feb. 23 after the death of his newborn daughter, marking his first appearance since the NLCS.

Alex Vesia took the mound for the Dodgers on Monday, Feb. 23, his first outing since the NLCS, after the heartbreaking loss of his newborn daughter Sterling Sole during the postseason.

Vesia, who had missed the playoffs with his wife Kayla, said the support of teammates and therapy helped him regain focus. “I just want to have fun on the mound,” he told reporters, adding that talking with the team has been a blessing.
