FC Barcelona have issued an official statement confirming that reserve team star Toni Fernandez has been sidelined for four weeks with an ankle injury.
“Barça Atletic player Toni Fernandez has a syndesmosis injury to his left ankle, which occurred during Wednesday’s match in Castellon,” the statement read.
“The estimated recovery time will be around four weeks.”
Just 17 years old, Toni is a player that Barcelona first-team manager Hansi Flick rates very highly and has been following closely since arriving at the club back in 2024.
Even though the youngster is currently a part of the Barça Atletic setup, he is regularly called up to train with the first-team squad and has been named in squad lists on multiple occasions.
The La Masia graduate made his La Liga debut back in October 2025, starting against Girona.
Since then, he has only played for the subsidiary team, tallying three goals and two assists from 18 appearances this season for Juliano Belletti’s side.
Flick had been continuing to track Toni, especially with a spot in the first-team dynamics becoming available after Pedro ‘Dro’ Fernandez’s January transfer to PSG.
However, Toni will now spend the next month in the infirmary, having suffered an ankle injury in the game against Castellon earlier this week.
