If there was a running theme at this year’s NFL scouting combine, it was speed.
Nearly every position group has set combine records for the fastest average 40-yard dash times this week, from defensive tackles to running backs.
The leader of the pack so far is Ohio State safety Lorenzo Styles Jr., who clocked a scorching 4.27 seconds for this week’s only sub-4.30 mark so far.
That’s the fastest 40 time recorded by a safety since at least 2003, according to NFL Network. And he ran that time one day after his younger brother, Ohio State linebacker Sonny Styles, finished in 4.46 for the best time of the week at his position.
But there were plenty of eye-popping times this week outside of the Styles family.
2026 top overall 40-yard dash times
Lorenzo Styles Jr., S, Ohio State: 4.27 seconds
Deion Burks, WR, Oklahoma: 4.30
Jeff Caldwell, WR, Cincinnati: 4.31
Toriano Pride Jr., CB, Missouri: 4.32
Robert Spears-Jennings, S, Oklahoma: 4.32
Oklahoma’s Deion Burks leads all wide receivers so far at 4.30, good for the second-best time of the week, with a second wave of prospects still set to run Saturday.
Here are the fastest times for each position group this week, with offensive linemen still to go on Sunday.
