ERIE, Pa. – In a championship game that lived up to every expectation, the Pitt‑Greensburg men's basketball team went toe to toe with Penn State Behrend for 40 intense minutes Saturday, but the Bobcats' late comeback fell just short in a 66–61 defeat in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference title game.
Conemaugh Township graduate Jackson Byer and Ligonier Valley product Matthew Marinchak were each named to the AMCC all‑tournament team for their outstanding tournament performances for Pitt-Greensburg.
Byer finished with a game‑high 19 points on 5‑of‑8 shooting from beyond the arc, while grabbing seven rebounds and blocking three shots. Marinchak added 13 points.
Pitt-Greensburg led 32-27 at halftime.
Greater Johnstown graduates Jahmir Collins and Joziah Wyatt-Taylor and Richland product Trent Rozich (16.6 points per game) also play for Pitt-Greensburg (22-5).
Jacob Dunkle (21 points), Nate Edwards (20) and Matthew McDonough (10) each scored in double figures for Penn State Behrend.
