NFL announces Falcons will play in Spain game in 2026 as league continues to unveil international schedule

After playing in Germany last season, the Atlanta Falcons will continue their European tour in 2026. The NFL announced Tuesday that the Falcons will be one of the team's participating in the Madrid, Spain game during the upcoming season.

The Falcons confirmed the news, posting a graphic featuring the team's logo in front of some famous landmarks. The team will play the game at Bernabéu, home to Real Madrid.

Additional details about the game, including its date, time and the Falcons' opponent, were not revealed just yet. That's the track the NFL has taken with most of its international announcements so far. The league is promising that additional details will be provided when the full schedule is released.

With the news, the league has now revealed at least one team that will take part in each international game next season. The NFL is playing a record nine international games during the 2026 season. Only one those contests — which will take place in Australia — has both teams confirmed. The Los Angeles Rams and San Francisco 49ers will take part in that game.

So far, two NFL teams will play multiple international games in 2026. The 49ers will also play in Mexico in 2026. The Jacksonville Jaguars will take part in three international games next season, though all three will take place in London.

The NFL has slowly rolled out the teams participating in the international games next season. In late February, the league confirmed the Detroit Lions would be one of the teams playing in Germany

The Falcons have played in four international games since the NFL started putting them on the schedule. The team is 1-3 in those contests.
