Latest inside look on Jayson Tatum’s recovery ends on hopeful note for Celtics

There have been plenty of behind-the-scenes clips covering Jayson Tatum's return from an Achilles rupture and his mental and physical journey to play for the Boston Celtics again. However, the conclusion to the latest inside look at the star forward's comeback arguably offered the most optimistic insight yet of any content released.

On Tuesday night, after the San Antonio Spurs finished destroying the Philadelphia 76ers 131-91 on NBC, the primetime broadcast aired a segment about Tatum's rehab process. And while this wasn't explicitly stated to be part of Tatum's mini docuseries, "The Quiet Work," it lasted about the same amount of time as the three episodes that have aired and focused on the same topic: Tatum's road back to basketball.

NBC may have pushed “The Quiet Work” ahead of schedule again.

Yesterday they aired a look at his recovery (not explicitly calling it an ep.). It was around 3 min. long — the same length as the other episodes.

It ended on an auspicious note, too. Tatum watched his teammates practice at the Auerbach Center and shared his thoughts on a potential return to play.

"I can see a day where I’ll be able to play again," he said 154 days after undergoing surgery on his Achilles.

If this reflection was indeed part of "The Quiet Work," that means Tatum's new production company, Zero Pressure Productions, and NBC have showed four episodes already. In a press release on Feb. 22, it was announced that this docuseries would feature five episodes and air on a weekly basis, yet four episodes may have potentially aired in less than two weeks.

Whether the expedited release schedule means anything remains to be seen, but it still implies that Tatum could be back before the 2025-26 season ends. The latest reports say the same thing:

For now, Tatum is sidelined, as the 41-20 Celtics announced that he is out for Wednesday night's showdown with the red-hot Charlotte Hornets due to right Achilles repair.

The six-time All-Star made it clear that he wants to return for a home game, and the Celtics play at TD Garden again on Friday night against the Dallas Mavericks. Following that, they embark on a three-game road trip.
