Cubs Beat Guardians 8-6, Cabrera Debut Sparks Win

Edward Cabrera earned a perfect debut with six strikeouts as the Cubs defeated the Guardians 8-6, while Dansby Swanson homered and drove in three runs.

Cabrera's first start for Chicago was a success, retiring all six Guardians batters he faced and striking out three in 31 pitches. Dansby Swanson delivered a two‑run homer and a single that drove in three runs, helping the Cubs take an early lead.

The bullpen held the Guardians scoreless for most of the game, with Rolison, Palencia, Snider and Webb combining for four strikeouts and two hits. After a shaky outing from Porter Hodge that allowed five runs, the Cubs rallied in the eighth with a bases‑clearing double by Leonel Espinoza and a final run from Gavin Hollowell, sealing the 8‑6 victory.
