Scherzer's Daughter Letter Blue Jays 'Cute'

Max Scherzer called his 8-year-old daughter's letter to the Blue Jays 'the cutest thing you can possibly imagine' after signing a one-year contract with the team.

The three-time Cy Young Award winner's daughter, Brooke, wrote the letter while children were composing requests to Santa Claus in December. 'Dear Blue Jays,' the note began, 'I am so sorry that you didn't win the World Series. I hope that you win next time. I hope my dad is back on the team.' Scherzer and his wife didn't actually send the letter, calling it a 'bad negotiating tactic.'

The pitcher recently agreed to a $3 million, one-year deal with Toronto after coming close to winning the World Series last season. 'That was a huge reason why I wanted to come back. This team can win,' Scherzer said.
