Barcelona Captain De Jong Out One Month With Hamstring Injury

Barcelona captain Frenkie de Jong is set for an extended spell on the sidelines with a hamstring injury, ruling him out for at least one month.

The Netherlands international suffered the injury during Barcelona's training session ahead of their weekend La Liga game against Villarreal. Initial tests suggest a possible muscle tear, which could keep him out for four weeks.

De Jong's absence means he will miss several key matches including the Copa del Rey semi-final second leg vs Atletico Madrid, the Champions League Round of 16 tie, and multiple La Liga fixtures. The injury comes as a significant blow to manager Hansi Flick, who had just about a fully fit squad available.
