‘I’ll be ready’: Blue Jays’ Scherzer Eyes Opening Day Roster Spot

Toronto Blue Jays veteran Max Scherzer stated he is healthy and ready to pitch for the team's opening-day rotation despite arriving late to spring training.

Max Scherzer officially confirmed he will be ready for Opening Day, saying he feels healthy and intends to pitch despite a late arrival to Blue Jays spring training. The veteran threw 45 pitches in his last mound session and is competing for a spot in the rotation alongside Kevin Gausman, Dylan Cease, and others.

Scherzer signed a one-year, $3 million deal with incentives last week. The 41-year-old posted a 5-5 record and 5.19 ERA last season, though he delivered strong performance in the World Series.
