Giants Release LB Bobby Okereke

The New York Giants have informed linebacker Bobby Okereke they are releasing him to create salary cap space.

The move saves $9 million against the salary cap, allowing the team to overhaul the defense under new coach John Harbaugh and defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson.

Okereke, 30, led the Giants with 78 tackles and two interceptions last season and served as a team captain during his third year with the club.
