Warrenton 8th Grade Girls Win State Basketball Title

On March 1, Warrenton’s 8th grade girls basketball team captured the state championship, defeating Madras/Warm Springs 60-52 in Salem.

Warrenton’s team won five of six tournament games, losing only to Madras on Saturday. They beat Yamhill‑Carlton 52-40 Friday, Crescent Valley 45-17 Saturday, Banks 40-28, and Seaside 48-20 before the final. Down nine at halftime, they rallied to win the title. The squad consists of six 8th graders and four 7th graders, with six players having played together for five years.
