Colts Place Transition Tag on Jones

The Indianapolis Colts have placed the transition tag on quarterback Daniel Jones following his breakout 2025 season with the team.

The Colts will retain the right to match any offer sheet Jones signs with another teams, as the transition tag costs $37.833M—$6M less than the franchise tag. Jones had a career revival with Indianapolis after spending his first six seasons with the New York Giants.

Before a season-ending injury, Jones started 13 games, passing for 3,101 yards and 19 touchdowns while maintaining a career-best 68% completion percentage. He also added 164 rushing yards and five touchdowns on the ground, on pace to surpass his previous career bests in multiple categories.
